BULOZ, François (1803–1877). Publisher and editor-in-chief of the prestigious journal *Les Deux Mondes* for forty years.
Letter addressed to Forcade [Eugène, editorial writer for the journal], Paris, 10 October 1858, 1½ pages, in-8°; printed letterhead: *Revue des Deux Mondes*. He is awaiting his article. ‘There is the regency of the Prince of Prussia which must be discussed. I am sending you a scathing book addressed to Veuillot [Louis, a Catholic journalist]… Will you not be coming on Tuesday? All the bishops of Savoy are after the *Revue* because of what you said about de Maistre.
DAMIRON, Jean-Philibert (1794–1862). Philosopher, author of numerous works.
Letter addressed to Mr Royer-Collard, head of the Fine Arts division at the Ministry of Trade and Public Works, 9 October 1831. 1½ pages, in-8°, address on the spine. He requests the purchase of a certain number of copies of his book.
From the same author: Handwritten letter to Mr Rioux, professor of philosophy at the college in Rennes, dated 10 February 1839. 2½ pages, in-8°. Regarding one of his lectures, he encourages his correspondent to continue his work? As for himself, he is devoting himself to a major project, a course, which is set to keep him occupied for several years (he would indeed publish a *Course in the History of Modern Philosophy* in 1842).

Letter to a ‘Dear Sir’, Nantes, 11 September 1872, 3 p., ½ in-8°. He sends the latest issue of the *Revue de Bretagne et de Vendée*. He mentions the publication of his latest work, *Dialogue des vivants et des morts*, which is reviewed in the journal. Douhaire criticises him for attacking politicians such as Picard, Favre and Gambetta… The letter also touches upon his other work, *Victor Hugo et la Restauration*.

[Bibliophilia]. Anonymous manuscript, second half of the 19th century, 29 folio leaves on blue vellum paper. A lengthy speech intended for a learned society, discussing the definition of the first edition, counterfeits and pre-first editions, drawing on numerous examples, including *Colomba*, *Madame Bovary* and a detailed discussion of the publication of Pascal’s *Pensées*.

Letter signed ‘To my dear Tissot’, Dresden, 19 March (18)52, 2 pp. in-8°. He invites his correspondent to visit Dresden, ‘the prettiest city I have yet seen in Germany’. He provides very precise details on what is worth seeing, including the hotel, the theatre and the paintings….
