[Manuscript]. A geographical and historical study of Italy. A manuscript comprising 63 handwritten folios with a printed title page setting out the details of the subject: “A preliminary discourse will set out the advantages of Geography, and the reasons which have led to the choice of Italy over any other country. Following a general overview and division of Italy into three parts—the Northern, the Central and the Southern—each of these parts will be discussed in the order of this division. Ancient and Modern History, Natural History, Ethics, Fable and Poetry will lend their support and provide embellishments. Thus modestly adorned, Geography—which is in itself dry and off-putting—will present itself in a pleasant and interesting manner.
This exercise will be carried out at the College de Beauvais by the second-year pupils on Friday 11 August 1780, at three o’clock in the afternoon.”
