(frontispiece detached but present, foxing and wormholes); bound in full contemporary calfskin, ribbed spine decorated with gilt panels featuring small ironwork motifs. (Corners worn, scuffing and worn clamps).
First edition adorned with an engraved frontispiece depicting Bishop Saint-Éloi in 1692. The last two leaves of this book contain several handwritten notes in Spanish:
-1st leaf: “If this book is lost, I beg whoever finds it to return it to me; if they do not know my name, I shall write it down // Josep. Fran.co Alvarez // Josep. Fran.co Alvarez, soldier in the Asturias Infantry Regiment 5[...]”
