In-8, 443 pp. (the first 16 paginated in Roman numerals), contemporary havana half-shagreen, spine with 5 raised bands, author’s name and title gilded, decorated panels (minor scuffing, very few foxing spots).
Genuine first edition. According to Vicaire, the edition dated Brussels, 1865, was published later; it was on the proofs of this Paris edition—published in late 1865 and dated 1866 for commercial reasons—that Victor Hugo made his final corrections. A fine copy with generous margins (h = 223 mm).
