Collection of prayers, including al-Sirr al-Masun by al-Ghazali and Dala'il al-Khayrat, Ottoman, one copied by Hamami-Zade, 19th century
Very fine Arabic manuscript on paper containing several prayer texts, including al-Sirr al-Masun (the preserved secret) by al-Ghazali, followed by a Qasidat al-Burda by al-Busiri, a Dala'il al-Khayrat by Mohammed b. Sliman al-Jazuli, a Hizb al-Dawr by Muhyi al-Din ibn 'Arabi and other prayers. 166 folios. 11 lines of text per page in black and red ink, in one or four columns, with gilt rosettes at the end of the verses. Three illuminated frontispieces and a very fine double-page illustration of Medina. The colophon of the Qasidat-al-Burda is signed 'Ali, known as Hamami-zade. Bound in brown leather with embossed and gilt decoration of a fishnet motif in a rectangular panel and framed in gilt fillets (minor wear and stains, otherwise good condition, two incorrect advertisements, binding damaged).
