Interesting Arabic manuscript on paper of various colours (green, orange, yellow, etc.). 17 lines per page in several hands and marginal and diagonal text. Numerous diagrams and mathematical figures of geometry. Undated colophon. Very worn soft leather binding. (Minor accidents, wear, wetness, small tears, spine of binding damaged, not collated)

An interesting treatise on geometry by Nasir al-Din Abu Ja'far Muhammad ibn Muhammad al-Tusi (d. 1274). He was an important scholar of mathematics, astronomy, geometry and theology. One of his most important contributions to mathematics is his commentary on Euclid's Elements and Ptolemy's Almagest. The earliest copy of his work is dated 656H./1258, and is in the British Library, London (Brockelmann, GAL, I. pp. 670-676; suppl. I. pp. 924-933). A dated Safavid Iranian copy was sold at Sotheby's, Arts of the Islamic World, London, 25 October 2017, lot 28 and another Qajare dated 1845-46 was sold in London at Olympia Auctions, 4 June 2025, lot 4.
