Mesnevi on mysticism, Gengîne-i Râz, by Yahya Bey Taslicali, Ottoman, probably 18th century Ottoman Turkish manuscript on oriental paper. Third mesnevi of Yahya Bey Taşlıcalı's Khamseh on mysticism, written in 947H./1540-41. 15 lines per page on 2 columns, in naskh, black and red ink, within a gilt frame. Colophon without date or copyist's name. Bound in brown morocco with gilt-stamped medallion with pendentives (Minor accidents, spotting, stains, old restorations, binding heavily worn and partially unbound, not collated). 20 x 13 cm Provenance: Bibliothèque orientaliste Maisonneuve, Paris The author, Yahya Bey Dukagjini (1488-1582), known in Turkish as Taşlıcalı Yahyâ bey, was an Albanian poet and Ottoman military figure who took part in the Battle of Chaldiran in 1514 and the Baghdad Expedition in 1535. He is known for his Dîvan of Ottoman Turkish poems.
