In the Introduction, the authors state that "in December 1923, the temple was visited by an association of antiquities looters who chiselled off several of the devatâs figures that adorn the walls of the southern sanctuary". This is, of course, André Malraux's
expedition of André Malraux and his companions. This monumental study is divided into 3 chapters. Architectural study by Henri Parmentier, illustrations by V. Goloubew, history by Louis Finot.
