Description
BENEDICTUS (Edouard) – *Nouvelles variations*, seventy-five decorative motifs in twenty plates. Paris, Editions Albert Lévy, c. 1924, folio, 20 plates, loose sheets in a printed publisher’s cardboard slipcase. Edouard Bénédictus’s prolific output is represented in the collections of the Department of Graphic Arts at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs thanks to a substantial collection of the artist’s drawings, most of which were donated in 1939 by his widow, Violette Gounin. Bénédictus’s drawings reflect the ingenuity of his mind, which he applied to the shows for which he worked, as well as his genius and his delight in combining colours and patterns, which can be seen throughout the rest of his work. He also worked extensively in the fields of theatre and the performing arts.
