Description
MAETERLINCK (Maurice) – Insects and Flowers. Paris, Editions Gallimard, 1954, quarto, 570 pp., binding based on a design by Paul Bonet, with slipcase. Maurice Maeterlinck was a Belgian playwright, essayist and poet, born in Ghent, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1911. As a poet, he was greatly influenced by Mallarmé and Symbolism. During the Second World War, he moved to the United States, and subsequently to Nice, where he died in 1949. He is best known for his essays on the lives of ants and termites. Illustrations by Hans Erni. Good condition.
