Description
ALCAIDE IBIECA (Agustín) Madrid, Burgos, 1830. History of the two sieges laid to Zaragoza in the years 1808 and 1809 by Napoleon’s troops. 2 vols. in-8 (20.4 x 13.8 cm), marbled calfskin, plain spine decorated with motifs and gilt fillets, title label and volume number in red and green morocco, yellow edges (contemporary binding). First edition illustrated with a topographical map of the city of Zaragoza. The work is a chronicle of the sieges of Zaragoza by Agustín Alcaide Ibieca, a Spanish lawyer and historian who himself took part in the events of 1808. Copy signed by the author on the title page. Some scuffing to the leather, particularly on Vol. I; a small tear to the map, with no material missing.
