Descriptive travels in the southern and eastern parts of Spain and the Balearic Islands, in the year 1809.
Small quarto (26.5 x 19.8 cm), brown half-calf with corners, ribbed spine decorated with gilt fleurons, title label in black sheepskin, date of publication on the tail, edges trimmed (modern binding).
First edition illustrated with 5 colour aquatints after drawings by John Carr, nicknamed by Lord Byron ‘the Knight of Green Ireland and the Wandering Star of Europe’.
The binding has been restored; there are a few rare, slight scuffs on the spine, slight foxing on some leaves, one plate is slightly short at the margin, and there is a small tear on the title page.
