The History of Peter the Cruel, King of Castile and León, and memorable events that took place during his reign. 2 parts in 1 vol. in-8 (19.6 x 12 cm), speckled light calfskin, framed with gilt motifs, plain spine decorated with gilt fleurons and the initials ‘PB’ at the end (contemporary binding). French edition following the original English edition published in 1788. A fine copy from the library of Empress Joséphine de Beauharnais at Malmaison. The joints are slightly split; there are a few pinholes and foxing on some leaves. Bibliography Library of Empress Joséphine de Beauharnais (bound with her monogram ‘Pagerie Bonaparte’ and bearing the bookplate of the Malmaison library).
