Eulogy for Napoleon, delivered on 5 May 1921 before the Emperor’s tomb.
In-8 (22.3 x 16 cm), ivy-green morocco, gilded Napoleonic emblems at the corners and an imperial eagle in the centre of the covers, ribbed spine, gilt edges, interior framing of gilt fillets and spandrels, red silk endpapers and linings, covers and spine preserved, slipcase (by G. Mercier Sr, from his father, 1924).
First edition.
Limited edition of 340 numbered copies; one of 290 printed on Arches ‘Impérial’ paper (no. 22).
This copy is enhanced by a fine original watercolour signed by the painter Georges Scott (1873–1943), dated 1924, depicting the Emperor with his hand in his waistcoat.
Signature of Marshal Foch on the first white endpaper.
Spine faded.
