[SPANISH WAR OF INDEPENDENCE] c. 1808–1825.. A collection of pamphlets. 77 volumes of various sizes, including some in-4 and most in-8 and in-12, in modern marbled-paper cardboard bindings. A rare collection of ephemeral pamphlets relating to the Spanish War of Independence (1808–1814), Napoleon Bonaparte, the Cortes of Cádiz and the early days of Spanish liberalism. It comprises approximately 77 manifestos, proclamations, military reports, political pamphlets, articles, newspaper extracts and propaganda texts… Most are political texts; these are followed by military reports (sieges, campaigns, battles, memoirs), a few pamphlets against Napoleon or in support of Ferdinand VII, and finally odes, sermons and eulogies. Printed in Cádiz, Madrid, Valencia, Barcelona, Palma or Seville… between 1808 and 1825 (some are later), these pamphlets—which often consist of just a few pages and a simple opening title (without a title page)—were intended for rapid distribution.
