NAPIER (William Francis Patrick) London, John Murray, later Thomas and William Boone, 1828–1840. History of the War in the Peninsula and in the South of France, from the year 1807 to the year 1814. 6 vols., large 8vo (22.4 x 14 cm), brown paper slipcase, title labels on spines, partly untrimmed. First edition (except for volume 3). The set is illustrated with 55 copper-engraved maps and plans, printed separately. As is very often the case, our copy comprises volumes from both the first and second (vol. 3) editions. Covers slightly worn, with a few losses on the spines. Interior fresh; one double-leaf loose, small marginal loss of paper on 2 ff. Provenance Ferguson of Raith (ex-libris with handwritten location). Bibliography Palau, 187471.
