[TARDIEU (Ambroise)] Paris, Panckoucke, 1818. Portraits of French generals following the French victories and conquests. 2 vols. in-8 (20.4 x 12 cm), Bradel binding in brown half-calf, smooth spine decorated with gilt motifs, marbled edges (contemporary binding). An illustrated edition featuring 152 copper-engraved portraits of French generals, including Bonaparte, Lafayette, Murat and Saint-Cyr. Each portrait is protected by a guard sheet and accompanied by a short biographical note. At the beginning of Volume 1 is the prospectus containing a presentation of the work, details of the instalments and a short biography of 48 of the most important generals.
