VERNET (Carle) Paris, Auber, 1806. Historical Accounts of the Italian Campaigns, from Year IV to the Battle of Marengo. Folio (52.1 x 33.5 cm), navy blue half-calf with corner pieces, gilt roulette decoration on the covers, plain spine decorated with gilt and blind-stamped bands and motifs, title label in garnet morocco, edges trimmed (contemporary binding). A beautifully illustrated first edition featuring 26 separate copperplate engravings, including an equestrian portrait of Napoleon as a frontispiece and a double-page map enhanced with watercolour. Binding scuffed in places; the joint partially split at the tail of the front cover; foxing on some pages, particularly in the margins of the plates.
