Description
WESTALL (R.) London, Rodwell and Martin, 1819. Victories of the Duke of Wellington. In-4 (30.2 x 24.5 cm), dark green long-grain half-maroquin with corners, plain spine decorated with gilt fillets (modern binding). First edition. Illustrated with 12 fine full-page plates by R. Westall, engraved on copper using the aquatint process by T. Fielding (except for one by Chas. Heath) and coloured in watercolour. A fine series of scenes celebrating the Duke of Wellington, from his victories on the Iberian Peninsula to Waterloo. Binding re-done in the style of the original, with the original spine retained. Some foxing, slight wear to the engravings. Bibliography Abbey, Life in England, 381.
