Description
YUNG (Th.) Paris, Henri Plon, [c. 1860]. Album of twenty battles of the Revolution and the Empire. Small oblong folio album (29.7 x 43 cm), dark brown percaline cardboard binding, embossed decoration on the covers, title and imperial eagle gilded on the top cover, plain spine (publisher’s binding). A fine album of 20 plates by Th. Yung, engraved on steel by Rouargue, Lalaisse and Durond, and hand-coloured in watercolour. 2 leaves of handwritten notes in English on the Battle of La Coruña. Spine damaged with losses; split joints. A few foxing spots on the text leaves. Provenance Major A. J. R. Van Cortlandt (stamp on the first endpaper).
