[ARCHAEOLOGY. ENGRAVING] Set of 10 lithographs on Egyptian art. A fine set of lithographs taken from two major works of 19th-century Egyptology.     Émile Prisse d’Avennes (1807–1879) was one of the most important French Egyptologists of his time. Fascinated by the art of the pharaohs, he published numerous works on the subject, including *Histoire de l’art Égyptien d’après les monuments* (1879). Comprising two volumes, this work originally contained nearly 160 plates of exceptional quality, providing a comprehensive overview of Egyptian culture: sculptures, frescoes, monumental architecture, etc.    -1/ Colossus of Ramses II, (54.4 x 39.5 cm), No. 105, colour lithograph, slight soiling, traces of mounting with adhesive tape on the front over a 5 mm area, small tear on the left-hand side.    -2/ Offerings to the Sun, (39 x 54 cm), No. 89, colour lithograph, Daumont (lith.), Arthus-Bertrand (ed.), slight soiling, traces of mounting with adhesive tape on the front over a 5 mm area.    -3/ Fragments of Iconic Statues from Different Eras, (54.6 x 39 cm), No. 95, Bellenger (lith.), Arthus-Bertrand (publisher), colour lithograph, traces of mounting with adhesive tape on the front (5 mm), slight soiling.    -4/ Tomb discovered in the El-Assacif Valley, (39.5 x 53.3 cm), No. 123, Levier (lith.), Arthus Bertrand (ed.), colour lithograph, slight soiling on the front, traces of adhesive tape on the front over a 1 cm area, slight tear on the inside edge.    John Gardner Wilkinson (1797–1875) was a British Egyptologist regarded as one of the founding fathers of the discipline in England. He undertook numerous trips to Egypt throughout his career, during which he took part in many archaeological excavations. The illustrations, based on his original drawings, are taken from the 1841 edition of *Manners and Customs of the Ancient Egyptians*, originally published in 1837.
