Description
ROUSSEL (Raymond) Paris, Alphonse Lemerre, 1832. New Impressions of Africa. In-8 (19.2 x 14.1 cm), paperback, printed cover with embossed lettering. First edition. Drawings by H.–A. ZO reproduced full-page within the text. Copy on Japanese paper. The 16-page insert entitled ‘La Critique et Raymond Roussel’ is securely bound at the front of the volume.   A lovely autograph dedication signed on the half-title page: ‘page 311. “Forming an endless line, strong and fresh workers emerge from the city’s suburbs to continue the work.” Written for Madame Henriette Cassellari with all my long-standing affection. ” Raymond Roussel also added the following in his own handwriting on the cover: ‘followed by “the soul of Victor Hugo”’ (page 241).   Slight creases on the spine; the cover and edges of the pages are very slightly dusty; otherwise a perfect copy.
