A superb, richly illustrated edition; a first-printing copy on Japanese paper, enhanced with a suite of illustrations, in a full mosaic binding by Victor Champs. Paris, L. Conuet, 1893. In-4, full green morocco, spine with raised bands highlighted by dotted gold fillets, compartments framed by a triple gilt fillet and adorned with a mosaic forget-me-not with gilt outlines; the same framing and a mosaic fleur-de-lis in the centre of the covers; wide gilt interior lace; double gilt fillet at the edges; guilloché headbands, gilt edges on endpapers, covers and spine preserved. Binding signed ‘Champs’. X – 383 pp., 134 woodcuts including a frontispiece. Spine and upper edge of the covers sun-faded, a few very slight signs of wear. A magnificent edition of this collection of poetry, illustrated with 134 woodcuts by Alcide Théophile Robaudi (1847–1928), engraved by Clément Bellenger (1851–1898). Limited edition of 500 copies; this is one of the first 150 numbered copies on Japanese or Chinese paper (no. 41 on Chinese paper), enhanced with a suite of engravings on the same paper. A very fine copy in a charming full mosaic morocco binding by Victor Champs (1844–1912).
