MICHELET, Jules. History of France – History of the French Revolution. The two main works by Jules Michelet (28 volumes in total), illustrated, complete and bound in matching brown half-morocco with decorative trim. Paris, Librairie Internationale A. Lacroix & Cie, 1877–1879. 28 vols. (19+9 vols.) small quarto, brown half-morocco, ribbed spines highlighted with a gilt frieze, panels decorated with gilt fleurons and small corner fleurons of the same, double gilt fillet around the edges of the covers. Not collated, numerous plates. Spines slightly sun-faded, some normal wear and tear, scattered foxing and plates generally browned. A fine set of 28 volumes bringing together two of Michelet’s principal works: *History of France* (19 vols., from the conquest of Gaul to the Revolution) and *History of the French Revolution* (9 vols., from 1789 to 10 Thermidor, Year II). The set is illustrated with numerous plates based on works by Daniel Vierge (1851–1904). It is complete with all its volumes and bound in a uniform, ornate half-maroquin binding. A delightful series, in good condition.
