A faint stain at the top of the front cover with a crease mark in the upper corner; spine creased; first section fragile; slight fading of the etchings; minimal scattered foxing.
Illustrated edition featuring 35 separate etchings by Octave de Rochebrune. A single print run of 325 numbered copies on laid paper (no. 228).
The illustrations feature views of landscapes, thatched cottages and châteaux in Saumur, Angers, Laval… This fine edition opens with an etching of the Château de Terre-Neuve, which was owned by the painter Octave de Rochebrune (1824–1900).
