Göttingen, Johann Christian Dieterich, 1784. In-8, pine-green half-shagreen, spine with 4 false raised bands decorated with blind-stamped lines. Binding signed Pfister (dry-stamped). XX, 987 pp. and 8 unnumbered folios (index). In Latin. Some minor wear to the binding, foxing. A revised edition of the ‘Systema Linnaeum’ by Andreas Murray (1740–1791), another Swedish botanist, who edited, corrected and published the section of the ‘Systema Naturae’ devoted to the plant kingdom. It was thanks to Murray’s edition of this *Systema Vegetabilium* that Linnaeus gained great renown in Europe. Handwritten bookplate on the title page and a J & A. Raynal bookplate label on the back of the title page. A fine copy in a sturdy 19th-century binding.
