In-12, marbled fawn calfskin, ribbed spine decorated with gilt fleurons, title label on red morocco, gilt scrolls on the edges, red edges. 255–220 pp., one engraved frontispiece. Binding rubbed, cap bands missing, tear to the frontispiece without damage to the image, frontispiece leaf slightly browned. Second edition of *Pharsamond*, Marivaux’s early novel. This is the first edition to bear this title; the original was titled *Pharsamond ou Nouvelles Folies Romanesques*. It is preceded by an engraved frontispiece. A fine copy.
