Mannheim, C.F. Schwan, 1774. In-8, full marbled calf, smooth spine decorated with gilt fillets and fleurons, gilt fillet on the edges, edges speckled blue and red. 4 unnumbered folios and 343 pages, 1 engraved folding plate. In Latin. Some scuffing and minor wear to the binding, corners worn, slight tear at the upper joint. Scattered minimal foxing. First edition of this *Physiologie des corps organisés*, translated into French the following year. Noël Joseph de Necker (1730–1793) was the physician to the Elector Palatine of the Rhine. A biologist, he devoted himself particularly to the study of mosses.
