First edition of this tribute to the reviled writer, whose downfall inspired the writing of *Corydon* and *If the Grain Does Not Die*. Paris, Mercure de France, 1910. In-12, paperback, pale yellow cover. 75 pp., heliogravure portrait frontispiece. A few slight stains or micro-tears. First edition of this tribute to Oscar Wilde, published 10 years after his death and illustrated with a touching frontispiece portrait. Copy on common paper, with a wet-stamped four-leaf clover, Gide’s personal mark at Mercure. The collection brings together two articles that appeared in *L’Ermitage* in June 1902 and August 1905 respectively: ‘In Memoriam (Souvenirs)’ and the review of *De Profundis*. [Naville 60]. A copy in very good condition.
