DELVAU, Alfred. The Countess of Ponthieu. An unpublished chivalric novel. Paris, Bachelin-Deflorenne, 1865. In-8, full midnight blue morocco, spine with fine raised bands richly decorated with small gilt ironwork, triple gilt fillet framing the covers, gilt interior edging, double gilt fillet on the edges, guilloché caps, gilt edges. Binding signed ‘Belz-Niédrée’ XIV and 46 pp. White stain on each cover. An edition of 150 copies printed on fine paper; this copy is unnumbered. Introduction and translation by Alfred Delvau of a 13th-century manuscript belonging to the Imperial Library. A fine typographic print in Gothic type for the original text and in Elzevirian type for the translation. Charles Puissant’s bookplate on the endpaper. A very fine copy in a full contemporary signed binding.
