First edition of this comprehensive directory listing the craftsmen, retailers and traders who registered their hallmarks at Goldsmiths’ Hall in London, the headquarters of the Goldsmiths’ Guild, during the industrial golden age of the British Empire. John Culme, an expert at Sotheby’s, wrote the biographies that make up Volume I, which is supplemented by a list of 16,127 hallmarks and monograms reproduced in Volume II. In excellent condition.
