A very fine edition of Greek epigrams, illustrated with 20 woodcuts after František Kupka; a copy on Japanese paper in a full binding, perfectly executed by Louis Creuzevault. Paris, H. Piazza, 1919. Quarto, full red morocco, spine with raised bands highlighted by a dotted gold fillet, richly decorated panels with small gilded ironwork, double framing decoration on the covers, each comprising three gilded fillets, including interlaced fleurons for the central frame and gilded fleurons at the corners, gilded interior lace, double gilded fillet with cut-outs, guilloché caps, gilded head edge, untrimmed, covers and spine preserved, edged slipcase. Binding signed by Louis Creuzevault. 190 pp., 20 woodcut compositions in monochrome, including the cover, frontispiece and title page. Some signs of wear at the spines, some scuffing on the slipcase. A fine art edition illustrated with 20 compositions by František Kupka, under the pseudonym Paul Regnard, and engraved by Eugène Gasperini. Limited edition of 600 copies; this is one of the 100 numbered copies on Japon paper (no. 80), first paper, enriched with a suite of monochrome engravings bound in fine. *La Guirlande d’Aphrodite* is divided into chapters named after flowers (anemone, iris, daffodils, roses, etc.), featuring some of the most beautiful love epigrams from ancient Greek literature, translated by Ferdinand Hérold.
