Text from the Vulgate and French translation by Le Maistre de Sacy, printed by Léon Pichon in Paris. Paris, Léon Pichon, 1921. Folio, paperback; black cloth-bound cover decorated with the title in gold Hebrew lettering. 61 pp., 32 woodcuts, including 29 half-page illustrations and 3 two-tone initials. Spine cracked with losses and lifting; the thread binding the quires has broken several times; paper missing from half of the side flap of the front cover. First print of these 32 woodcuts with white lines by Hermann Paul (1864–1940), including three two-tone initials. Limited edition of 480 copies initialled by the publisher; this copy is one of the 430 hand-numbered copies on Arches handmade laid paper (no. 98). Attractive illustrations in very good condition.
