First edition of this treatise, which paved the way for the production of hard-paste porcelain at the Sèvres Manufactory.
The Count of Milly (1728–1784), appointed to the Duchy of Guttenberg, an ally of France, brought back from his stay in Germany his highly detailed knowledge of the manufacture of Saxon porcelain. A man of science, he submitted his treatise to the Academy, which deemed it worthy of publication in its *Arts & Métiers* collection.
A copy with wide margins.
