First edition on laid paper, featuring a dedication by André Gide to Louise Dartigues, the pseudonym of Louise Cruppi, a writer and feminist activist. Paris, Mercure de France, 1906. In-12, paperback, blue printed cover adorned with a Restoration-style palmette border. 291 pp. Spine very slightly faded, as is often the case. First edition except for ‘Feuilles de route’. *Amyntas* brings together four travel journals from North Africa (Algeria, Tunisia, the Sahara) and Italy between 1895 and 1903. A single print run of 350 copies on unwatermarked Arches laid paper (wet-stamped with the four-leaf clover, Gide’s personal mark at Le Mercure). [Naville 54]. Our copy is enhanced by an autograph dedication signed by André Gide to Louise Dartigues, the pseudonym of Louise Cruppi (1862–1925), a writer and feminist activist. Excellent condition.
