In-18, paperback, printed cover, foxing. 144 pp. Buoyed by the modest fame brought him by the publication of his *Elegy on the Death of General Foy*, Dumas frequently visited the premises of his printer, Louis-Pascal Setier, and the idea of a poetry journal took shape, a project in which he enlisted his childhood friend Adolphe de Leuven. The list of contributors includes a few of Dumas’s acquaintances from his time in Paris, notably his colleagues at the offices of the Duke of Orléans. A notable contribution comes from Marceline Desbordes-Valmore, who would become a loyal friend of Dumas. Dumas contributed two poems: ‘La Néréide’ and ‘L’Adolescent malade’. - *La Psyché*. In-12, contemporary ice-blue calfskin, large embossed decoration on the covers, title and date gilt on the spine, gilt edges. ix, 319 pp., [1 f.], 10 out-of-text vignettes. The volume opens with ‘L’Embarquement’ by Dumas. Other authors include Marceline Desbordes-Valmore, the Duchess of Saint-Leu (Hortense de Beauharnais) and Chateaubriand… Minor scuffing to the binding, small pinholes. A fine copy. These works are extremely rare.
