Description
Alexandre DUMAS. Signed autograph letter. No place [Paris], undated [1829–1830?]. 1 p. in-8.
Regarding a reading he is to give at his correspondent’s home: ‘Please choose any day that suits you, except Sunday, when I am reading at the Duke’s. I shall be, Sir, entirely at your service, and only too happy to be able to give you this proof of the pleasure I shall take in being judged by you. ’ He also asks him for four invitations to the evening, ‘as I intend to read only at your house’, for ‘Mr Oudard, secretary to the Duchess of Orléans; Lamy, secretary to Mademoiselle; Lassagne, head of the secretariat; and Asseline. ”
The reading in question concerns *Henri III et sa cour*, a drama premiered on 11 February 1829, or *Stockholm, Fontainebleau et Rome*, dedicated to the Duke of Orléans and premiered on 30 March 1830.
