Description
Alexandre DUMAS. 3 autograph notes signed to Paulin Richard, librarian at the Royal Library. Undated [1837–1839?]:
- On cream-coloured paper bearing a ‘Bath’ embossed stamp (paper used by Dumas in 1837–1838). ‘Please lend me the volume that Mr Baudry, the bearer of this note, will ask you for. Yours sincerely’.
- ‘Would you be so kind as to lend me the books on the orders: I need the history of the Knights of Carmel.’ No doubt for the writing of ‘Temple et hospice du Mont-Carmel’, published in *La Presse* in May 1837.
- “Do everything you can to get me, today, the volume by Madame du Noyer containing the letters relating to Madame de Ganges and her children.” Dumas dedicated one of the chapters of *Crimes célèbres* to the Marquise de Ganges in 1839.
