Description
Alexandre DUMAS. Signed autograph letter to Delphine de Girardin, undated [February 1847?]. 1 p. in-8, envelope.
A charming note addressed to the ‘Dear and gracious Viscount ’ (Delphine de Girardin wrote under the pseudonym Vicomte de Launay): ‘I had intended to visit you yesterday. I intend to visit you today. All this to thank you for your delightful article. But as I never know five minutes in advance what I shall be doing five minutes later, I am writing to you in case I am prevented from doing so again. Please therefore accept my heartfelt thanks; they make me doubly proud, as I owe them to the Viscount de Launay and to Delphine de Girardin. ”
In her ‘Parisian letter’ of 21 February 1847, published in *La Presse* by her husband Émile de Girardin, Delphine devoted several pages of glowing and impassioned praise to Alexandre Dumas.
