A bloody tale featuring a young aide-de-camp to Eugène de Beauharnais. Invited to dinner at the home of a beautiful, rather uninhibited woman, he is intrigued by a large mahogany wardrobe from which… fresh blood is seeping.
This detective short story was serialised in four issues of *Dartagnan* in February 1868 and did not appear in book form until 1993 in *Nouvelles contemporaines et autres nouvelles contemporaines*, edited by Claude Schopp.
