(Lot) – Alexandre DUMAS. 9 signed autograph letters containing requests:
- To the Duke of Morny. 4 lines on an in-8 sheet. Concerning his friend Doligny: ‘Do everything in the world for him; whatever you do for him, you will be doing for me’.
- To a baron. 1 p. in-8. He was assured that ‘a few lines from me and two good friends whom I am referring to you will be well received by you, even though I do not have the honour of knowing you…’
- To a ‘dear colleague’. 1868. 2 pp., in-8 on blue paper. He recommends to him a young Englishwoman, the mother of a child by Desnoyers who has just died. He asks that the Society [of Men of Letters] provide assistance to the mother: ‘I have little influence over our young colleagues, to whom my sympathies draw me near but from whom my work keeps me at a distance. ’ He suggests that a collection be organised: ‘In this instance, put my name at the top—not as the largest contributor, but as the senior member of those who give on every occasion…’
