XX, 479 pp., [1 p.]; [2 ff.], 469 pp., [1 f.], 250 illustrations by Maurice Leloir, woodcuts by J. Huyot. The Dumas family are linked to the life and career of Maurice Leloir (1853–1940). His grandfather, Louis-Philippe-Auguste, worked in the offices of the Duke of Orléans when Dumas joined the staff there in 1823. He occasionally invited the young man, who got to know his son Auguste, Maurice’s future father. Maurice was encouraged and supported by Alexandre Dumas the Younger and became one of his close friends. Spine and raised bands rubbed.
