Description
Alexandre DUMAS. Autograph signed letter to Marie. Undated [1862–1863]. 1 p. in-8 on blue paper. He is concerned about the postage costs she has had to pay and is unsure who to use to send his parcels: ‘It’s nothing for this letter, which brings you nothing but affection, but I have a large parcel to send you. I’ve bought you an important book… Today I only have time to send you my love; two volumes are to be sent to you from London, but they’ll probably be addressed to your former convent… ” In early 1863, Marie Dumas, separated from her husband Olympe Pétel, had taken temporary refuge at the Convent of the Ladies of the Assumption in Passy. Dumas, for his part, after a brief stay in France, had returned to Naples.
