One of Dumas Fils’s earliest poetic works. Alexandre DUMAS Fils. Signed autograph poem. May 1841. 4 quatrains on an in-8 leaf. ‘Who could ever have said, save God alone, / That this young woman in her white gown, / Bowing before the altar from which happiness flows, / Would, a year later, have her veil as her shroud /… ” Dated May 1841 (Alexandre was then 17 years old), it was published in the author’s *Péchés de jeunesse* with variations and dated May 1843. Also included: Alexandre DUMAS the Younger. Early poetry. Signed autograph manuscript. 5 pp. ½ in-8. Lamalou, 21 September 1793. ‘To Monsieur [name crossed out], who knows as well as I do what to make of the person in question. With one exception in the whole world / I declare there is no blonde / To whom one might compare you, / That no skin is as white as yours…”
