Description
Alexandre DUMAS the Younger. Signed autograph poem. 1863. 2 pp. in-4. 30 lines.
‘Dear Mummy, I’m clever, / I can count on my ten fingers / I know that the present era is one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three / I know that today is your birthday /…/ I swear to you / that I shall cry each day / only two or three times /…/ I promise to keep myself busy / with what, alas! one must learn / To play with my dolls / only in the morning and in the evening /…”.
Dumas Fils wrote this poem, which his three-year-old daughter Colette presented to her grandmother.
