It is… in a philosophical vein with which I believe I am also in agreement. ’ – June 1893: ‘I was deeply moved by that fine article; I would say it was very well written were it not entirely in my praise… I have just sent you a telegram asking you to correct an error. My mother was not Slavic, but Celtic…’ – 28 June 1895 [after Dumas Fils’s remarriage]: ‘Nothing has changed, my dear friend.
