Vicaire IIII, 461. - *Les Madeleines repenties*. Refuge Sainte-Anne, 31, rue du Landy (Clichy-la-Garenne). Paris, Dentu, 1869. In-12, blue percaline, title label in black morocco, covers preserved, untrimmed, a few foxing spots (Petitot binding). 36 pp. First edition. A former hunting lodge dating from the late 17th century (the Pavillon Vendôme is now a centre for contemporary art), it provided a home from 1861 to 1894 for former prostitutes in an institution founded by Dominican nuns. Among the list of ‘patronesses’ is the poet Mélanie Waldor, who had been Alexandre Dumas the Elder’s mistress in her youth. - La Princesse Georges. A play in three acts. Paris, Michel Lévy, 1872. In-8, blue half-percaline with corner pieces, covers and spine preserved, untrimmed, with dedicatory inscription. XV, 77 pp. First edition.
