Description

Quarto, green half-percaline with a chagrin grain. [3 ff.], 242 pp. First edition of these minutes relating to the re-establishment of theatre censorship. It was passed unanimously by the members of the Ministry of the Interior’s commission on 28 January 1849, but was not implemented until July 1850. In the meantime, a commission of the Council of State was tasked with gathering documents that might assist it in its work and with conducting enquiries amongst relevant experts. Among the documents gathered on theatres in Paris and the provinces are: licences, sureties, bankruptcies, theatre seating capacities, theatre companies, etc. Discolouration on the percaline paper; covers slightly rubbed.
