DUMAS-RELATED DOCUMENTATION
Documentation compiled by Jean Hournon
An exceptional collection of some 130 ring binders and drawing portfolios containing a wealth of historical and literary documentation on the two Dumas and their era.
This collection was assembled over more than thirty years of patient, meticulous and systematic research and constitutes a unique resource for understanding the authors of *The Three Musketeers* and *The Lady of the Camellias*.
Jean Hournon undertook, in particular, a monumental task of sifting through the press of the 19th and 20th centuries, searching for even the slightest reference to the two Alexandres.
In doing so, he has left behind a unique body of documentation that one cannot imagine being compiled again.
He had adopted a thematic classification system and, within these broad themes, an arrangement that was both alphabetical and chronological.
We are presenting this documentation in a number of coherent collections in order to provide, as a ‘ready-made’ resource, enthusiasts of the two writers—who are interested in particular aspects of their lives and works—with the material they need to carry out and continue the vast research project on these two extraordinary men.
