Description:
Barilleau was a doctor at the Hospital of Poitiers. He obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree in Paris in 1813. In 1814, Claude Barilleau joined the Secondary School of Medicine and Pharmacy in Poitiers as a lecturer. He was a professor of medical pathology (1813–1814), anatomy and physiology (1814), and internal medicine (1833). He became the school’s director in 1834. He sat on the school’s academic council from 1834 to 1850. He was elected associate member of the Medicine Section of the Academy of Medicine on 5 April 1825. Knight of the Legion of Honour (1851).
